Description

Why?
Because chibi-ish cartoon robots I'd like to use as characters in my practice animations. Sure, I could just do a walk cycle, or I could do a happily skipping along cycle with Lilac, or a hyper-sprint cycle with Daffodil, or an "I'm angry" stomp cycle with Pine.
I figured if I made these characters simple in design, they'd be easy to re-draw if needed, and that because they have personalities, I could animate diffrent reactions to the various "homework" animations that are usually done to help me learn the basics.
Edit: and for the one person who may be curious, everyone has those little bellybuttons with their icon on them, not just the ladies.
And now some fun facts!

:bulletblack: This was originally an all female squad in it's early conception within my head. I went against that idea for variety's sake, and I was afraid I might make a character based solely off a female stereotype.
:bulletblack: Speaking of colors, As you probably noticed, everyone is named after the shade of color their outfits are. The reason I chose those particular hues of color (Purpleish Pink, Blue, Redish orange, Yellow, and later Green) are because of the early Power rangers, who had a simmilar color scheme and set up. The fact that Rust is the Leader and Lilac and Daffodil are female is no coincidence. In almost every show of Power Rangers I've seen, Red is the leader, Yellow and Pink are girls, and the other two colors are male.
:bulletwhite: You also probably noticed the card theme as well. That's because the setting i'd like to go for is "Gilded Mesa," A thriving Casinopolis inspired by Las Vegas and it's many colorful and diversely shaped buildings. I wanted a sort of fun setting that is a farcry from the usual white and grey metropolis or townsville.
:bulletblack: At one point I thought about making their theme around Chess, making 6 members. The Pawn, The Knight, The Bishop, The Rook, The Queen and The King.
:bulletwhite: If for some reason their Little Black Box (LBB for short, and it's the brains of the unit) is removed from the body, and the body can still function, The visor will become grey and white and will follow simple commands. They will also seek out and try to re-insert the LBB associated with it's body.
:bulletblack: Functionally, their eyes are useless. The only reason they have eyes is to express their emotion and to show you, the viewer, what they are looking at. They see via a wide angle camera inside the visor, and can focus on different things without moving their eyes. They could make it to where they appear focused on a bird over by that park bench, but are really looking at who's on that water fountain 20 ft behind that park bench. Blindfolds also don't work because they have diffrent modes that don't require the camera alone to see.
:bulletwhite: Their power source is a special solar battery called a "Star Core" and is canonically the most durable, reliable, efficient, 100% renewable energy source... it's also the most expensive to develop, which is why the city only has 2 in their power production plant. On the plus side, those 2 cores power most of the plant's processes itself, so power failures are rare and short in the town.

I am now going to describe their basic personalities, their role in the team, and a few facts about each of the characters

Purple Square Bullet Lilac ~ The Queen of Hearts
Bullet; Purple Basic personality: She loves everything. No really, that's about it. She loves most of her team, all the civilians of Gilded Mesa, animals, trees, the air, and even you! ... all in a platonic way of course (Except maybe this one person, but she won't tell who.) If she really has to, she won't hesitate to exploit her sexy physique in order to exploit the lustful nature of any baddies if it will work to the team's advantage, otherwise that breastplate will stay on. She's also a good listener.
Bullet; Purple Team Role: Marks(wo)man - Lacking some mobility due to torso weight making her heavier than expected, she compensates with knowledge of over 987 weapons and exactly how to use them properly. With an estimated 99.995% average accuracy, she has the potential to be a one man army if she would even point the gun at something that isn't one of the bio weapon monster guys that keeps popping up in the town.

Bullet; Purple If I ever have to draw robot nudity for whatever reason, meaning that if I actually come p with a scenario where Lilac can use her sexy looking body to say, distract a few guards, it will be that of a doll rather than human anatomy, and even so, more likely than not the nudity will simply be implied.
Bullet; Purple She calls her belly button emblem the "I love you!" button and will hug you if you touch it. Touching the emblem doesn't actually do anything to make her do this, however. She will hug you because she loves almost everyone.
Bullet; Purple Her color scheme was inspired by Jenny Wakeman from "My Life as a Teenage Robot"... or at least it would have been if Jenny was purple as I remembered her... but apparently she's a sort of cyanish green

Blue Square Bullet Cobalt ~ The Jack of Spades
Bullet; Blue Basic personality: At first glace, he might appear as the stereotypical fat guy, but that has a purpose, I assure you. Sure he likes "eating" things, but he just likes having that tummy sensor read "Full." Why he tries to fit them in his mouth rather than opening his stomach hatch is not known. Overall, Cobalt is probably the calmest guy here, and the most grown up out of all of them. He likes to have fun, is social with his team
Bullet; Blue Team Role: His large gut has the purpose of transporting valuable goods and supplies that are needed for the mission, as well as other doo-dads that might simply come in handy if the situation changes. He's decent in combat, but can always make sure to bring a spare ammo kit, or even slot in the LBB's of his teammates if for some reason their bodies become out of commission during combat.

Bullet; Blue The reason I made his tummy a safe is because I don't like making such traits without a reason. My character Lilly, for instance. She's chubby, but she also has a sweet tooth and generally has some for desert, so it makes sense.
Bullet; Blue Cobalt is the only one with a hairpeice.
Bullet; Blue He lcan store stuff in his shoulder pads as well, though I can only really see ammo packs going in there.

Green Square Bullet Pine ~The King of Clubs
Bullet; Green Basic personality: A fun loving guy who enjoys the occasional party, extreme sport, or other such activity. He's a very active guy, though he isn't stupid like some of the other "muscle" characters. He is actually the smartest person on the team, and is a much better tactician than Rust is
Bullet; Green Team Role: Melee Focused Demolition Expert. His arms can punch with the force of a 10 ton wrecking ball. He al,so likes using swords, hammers, and other such things. His big hands make it difficult for him to hold a standard weapon, however, so heavy weapons that probably couldn't be carried by normal hands are what you'd see thing guy packing... like a tank head, or an entire anti-aircraft turret. I really don't think I need to explain much more than that.

Bullet; Green Pine is much more angular and squareish in design. This is because I wanted to draw bulkiness, but was not sure how to give a robot this short big muscles without looking ridiculous.
Bullet; Green Despite enjoying extreme sports, his weight and built make him unable to do most of them because the board cannot handle it. Even if it could, he's not mobile enough to preform many tricks.
Bullet; Green He is the King of Clubs because the Club reminds me of a Clover, and to "club" something is to bash with a heavy object, like a bit or mace

Red Square Bullet Rust ~ The Wild Joker
Bullet; Red Basic personality: This guy... he is not as limited by coding as the others are. He has a 95% Free Will Rating compared to everyone else's 80%. And because of this, he believes he is superior to, well, everything! The people, the monsters, heck, not even his own team is safe from his foul personality. This guy's an abusive prick, and he honeslty believes he has the right to be this way because he can think more freely than his team! He seems to hate Daffodil most of all, and for no real good reason either. That 5% FWR he doesn't have is probably the only reason he hasn't become a super villain and taken over the town. His coding literally won't allow it, and it will temporally shut him down if he even thinks about seriously harming a civilian or his teammates (though verbal abuse and a slap on the back of the head seem to be fine with his coding.) and just in case he somehow does stray too far, his team can also activate that force shutdown thing.
Bullet; Red Team Role: Could fit any role. He is highly adaptable. Technically he's the leader, but not everyone would agree that he should be the leader. In fact, when I said Lilac loves most of her team... this is the one guy she absolutely hates, and she'd prefer if he left Daffodil alone.

Bullet; Red In all the episode ideas I've come up with, Rust get's shut down at least once in each one. I'm not sure if I want this to be a running joke, because it would mean Rust would have to deliberately try to harm his team or a civilian at least once per episode. I feel this would get old if I used it so often.
Bullet; Red I Know the Joker technically isn't a card suit, and I don't know of any card games where the Joker is a Wild Card. I just figured his higher free will gave him more potential to be "wild" and unpredictable, and I didn't want a W for his icon, so I went with what I think is the better option and mde his "suit" the hat of the Jester commonly seen on Joker cards
Bullet; Red The only reason he has a one-peice outfit is because I though he didn't look good in a more jumpsuilt like outfit.

Yellow Square Bullet Daffodil ~ The Ace of Diamonds
Bullet; Yellow Basic personality: Shy, timid, and always feels like she's doing something wrong (you can thank Rust for that.) She also speaks quietly with a pleasant voice. She tries to be polite as she can, and is not very assertive, which has led to her becoming a bit of a doormat that most of her teammates tread lightly. Her friends will sometimes ask her to do a favor, like starting up the washing machine, or grabbing a can of what they call "soda." Rust has pretty much made Daffodil his slave maid.
Bullet; Yellow Team Role: Good with light weaponry. That's all she can really do for combat. She is however, incredibly fast and capable of short bursts of flight without any add-ons, like rocket wings or a propeller hat. Her top speed is 60 km/h on foot alone, 90 km/h on foot with jets on, and can reach mach 1 in flight with assistance form add-ons. This makes her very useful for quickly dispatching qroups of small foes, or distressing a gigantic one.

Bullet; Yellow Her body was modeled after a gymnast. I figured this made sense, seeing as she is the most agile of the team. It also gives her a more youthful appearance, which I think fits well with her shy personality
Bullet; Yellow She was originally going to have little wings on her back, but I instead decided to give her little wings in her back.
Bullet; Yellow She has a ponytail. This is so I don't have to animate so much hair when she's flying at high speeds. And yes, her hair is long so that it can indeed flow in the wind and make her flight appear a bit faster and more dynamic.
